Clayton Campus- Demolition Completed!
The Governors are pleased to announce that we have taken our first steps towards the re development of the Clayton Campus. See www.claytoncampus.co.uk for more information.
Demolition of much of the buildings which covered the site has now been completed.
We hear from many people who have fond memories and stories of Clayton Hospital whether as a member of staff, patient or visitor (myself included) and we know how big a part the hospital has played in Wakefield's history.
The main tower and immediate side pavilions of the original entrance to Clayton hospital still stand and this part will be kept. This remaining structure will be incorporated into our new designs for the foundations future use. Work will be undertaken to repair the roof and the externals of the building as well as completing the boundary walls and ancillary works as soon as we have received approval from the council.
We are in constant negotiations with Wakefield Council over the whole scheme which have proved lengthy and protracted but a development of this scale will always bring interest and comments from many stakeholders. We continue to work with them and our consultants closely.
We look forward to moving the development to its next phase and will keep you updated with our efforts.
